Brief History of Adeola Odutola College Private

Adeola Odutola College Private is a co-educational secondary school with a proud heritage of academic excellence. Officially opened on 28 February 1964, it was the first Voluntary Agency Comprehensive High School in the former Western Region of Nigeria. The College emerged from the merger of Olu-Iwa College (founded in 1948) and Ijebu-Ode Secondary Commercial School (founded in 1945) and is located on a scenic tableland along Adeola Odutola College Road, Ijebu-Ode.

In 1975, following the government takeover of schools, the founder, Chief (Dr.) Timothy Adeola Odutola, Ogbeni Oja of Ijebu-Ode, graciously handed the institution over to the Ogun State Government. During this period, the school remained a center of learning, producing distinguished professionals, scholars, and entrepreneurs who have contributed significantly to national development.

In 2009, the Ogun State Government returned formerly private schools to their original owners, and the Odutola family reclaimed the College with a renewed commitment to the founder’s vision. Since then, Adeola Odutola College Private has been revitalized with modern science laboratories, ICT-driven learning, a low student-teacher ratio, a conducive learning environment, and a team of highly qualified and dedicated staff.
The College resumed operations as a private institution in the 2010/2011 academic session, admitting students into JSS 1 and SSS 1, and has since grown into a fully established private secondary school. Today, Adeola Odutola College Private continues to uphold high academic standards, strong moral values, and ethical conduct, guided by experienced educators and supported by a distinguished Board of Trustees and Board of Governors made up of respected scholars and professionals.
